Announcing Custom Reports
Just weeks after launching our Reports feature, we're taking the next step. Today, we're introducing Custom Reports for CloudQuery, which is something many of you have been asking for, and we listened.
We found that managing complex multi-cloud environments means you need visibility tailored to your specific infrastructure. While our premade reports have helped many of you get started with cloud governance, we've heard that you need reports that reflect your unique cloud. Your tagging strategies, security requirements, and cost optimization priorities aren't the same as everyone else.
That's exactly why we built Custom Reports. So you can get visibility into what matters most to your team.
Custom Reports addresses several critical challenges:
- Visibility gaps: Now you can create dashboards that show exactly what your security team or FinOps group needs to see
- Cross-cloud complexity: Build reports that span your entire infrastructure, regardless of which providers you use
- Governance alignment: Tailor reports to match your specific compliance requirements and internal policies
- Unique metrics: Track the specific KPIs that matter to your organization, not generic measurements
What’s included in this release? #
With Custom Reports, you can:
- Begin with a blank slate or modify our premade reports.
- Choose your visualizations: tables, donut charts, line charts, and bar charts
- Group related metrics together for better organization
- Apply custom filters to focus on specific accounts, regions, or services
- Share reports with your team to standardize visibility
- Update reports as your infrastructure evolves
What can you build? #
Custom Reports opens up entirely new possibilities for understanding and governing your cloud infrastructure. Here are some ideas that might spark your imagination:
- Create visual scorecards that combine findings across IAM permissions, network security groups, and encryption status into a unified security posture assessment.
- Build reports aligned with your specific regulatory requirements (even ones not covered by our standard reports).
- Map resources to teams based on your custom tagging scheme to identify orphaned assets or areas needing governance attention.
- Create custom visualizations that show dependencies between resources (e.g., which databases connect to which applications).
- Track the consistency of configurations across equivalent services in different clouds
What excites us most is that these are just starting points. Every organization has unique needs, and Custom Reports gives you the tools to address them specifically. We can't wait to see what you build!
What's next #
Custom Reports allows you to create dashboards that match your exact cloud infrastructure, no matter how complicated it is. Be sure to check out the Reports docs to learn how to get started.
